"#perl", pronounced "pound Perl", is a reference to the IRC channel "#perl" – but not just any #perl on any ol' network. There is the #perl originally on EFnet and currently located on MagNet.

#perl is less about Perl and more about the people of #perl. Its a social club for long-term users of Perl and is inhabited by many long term members of the community. The conversations are often bizarre, inane and vulgar. #perl is home to purl, an infobot loaded with factoids gleaned from listening to the channel and also programmed in by its inhabitants.
