Page link. While editing, link to another given page, say the page titled &quot;There&quot;, simply by selecting it and clicking on <span class="nlw_phrase"><img alt="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/base/images/wikiwyg_icons/link.gif" src="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/base/images/wikiwyg_icons/link.gif" border="0" /><!-- wiki: http:base/images/wikiwyg_icons/link.gif --></span> in the toolbar. You can also enclose the name of the page in brackets. For example, <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">[There]<!-- wiki: {{[There]}} --></span></strong> will make a link <a href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?There" title="[click to create page]" class="incipient">There</a>. Link names are not case sensitive, so you can also link to same page with <a href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?there" title="[click to create page]" class="incipient">there</a>.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>Dashed links.</strong> Links to pages that exist will have a solid underline. However, links to pages that do not already exist will have an dashed underline. Just click on the link and write the new page! This makes it easy to create new pages.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>Link text.</strong> Sometimes you don't want the text of the link to be the same as the name of the page. You can specify the link text by writing <strong>&quot;link text&quot; <span class="nlw_phrase">[Page Name]<!-- wiki: {{[Page Name]}} --></span></strong>. For instance, <strong>&quot;how to link&quot; <span class="nlw_phrase">[Linking]<!-- wiki: {{[Linking]}} --></span></strong> : <a href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?linking" title="(70 months) _Back to [Socialtext Documentation]._ Many different kinds of links can be made in [Advanced mode] a...">how to link<!-- wiki-renamed-link linking --></a>. Note: links with modified link text can only be changed from the <strong>Advanced</strong> editing mode.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>Links to other workspaces.</strong> You can link to a page in another workspace simply by writing <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: different-workspace [Page]<!-- wiki: {{{link: different-workspace [Page]}} --></span>}</strong>. For instance, to link to the Tutorials page in the Customer Exchange, write
<blockquote><blockquote>
<strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: exchange [Tutorials]<!-- wiki: {{{link: exchange [Tutorials]}} --></span>}</strong></blockquote></blockquote>
You can also do this in <a href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?simple_mode" title="(70 months) _Back to [Socialtext Documentation]_ toc Introduction Simple mode lets you edit much as you would in...">Simple mode</a> with <span class="nlw_phrase"><a title="section link" href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?simple_mode#insert_wikiwidgets">WikiWidgets</a><!-- wiki: "WikiWidgets"{link: [Simple mode] Insert Wikiwidgets} --></span>.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
Links to other workspaces can only be changed from the <strong>Advanced</strong> editing mode.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>Links to sections inside pages.</strong> What if you want to create a link to a particular section of a page? You can link directly to any section heading on a page by using the text of the heading: <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: Section Heading<!-- wiki: {{{link: Section Heading}} --></span>}</strong>.
You can link to a heading on a different page in a different workspace by writing: <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: different-workspace [Page] Section Heading<!-- wiki: {{{link: different-workspace [Page] Section Heading}} --></span>}</strong>. For instance, to link to the following heading</blockquote>
<br /><h4 id="link_here">Link here</h4>
<blockquote><blockquote><blockquote>
<strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: [Linking] Link here<!-- wiki: {{{link: [Linking] Link here}} --></span>}</strong> <span class="nlw_phrase"><a title="section link" href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?linking#link_here">Linking (Link here)</a><!-- wiki: {link: [Linking] Link here} --></span> (this workspace)<br />
<strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: exchange [Linking] Link here<!-- wiki: {{{link: exchange [Linking] Link here}} --></span>}</strong> <em><span class="nlw_phrase"><span class="wafl_permission_error">Linking (Link here)</span><!-- wiki: {link: exchange [Linking] Link here} --></span></em> (on Customer Exchange)</blockquote></blockquote></blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>Naming a section on a page.</strong> You can create a name for a section by typing <strong><span class="nlw_phrase"> {section: section-name<!-- wiki: {{ {section: section-name}} --></span>}</strong> in the page. The name won't be visible when you view the page, but you can use the name to make a link directly to that section. For instance, the section <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{section: Naming a section<!-- wiki: {{{section: Naming a section}} --></span>}</strong> is at the bottom of this page. You can link to it via <strong><span class="nlw_phrase">{link: [Linking] Naming a section<!-- wiki: {{{link: [Linking] Naming a section}} --></span>}</strong> and get this link: <span class="nlw_phrase"><a title="section link" href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?linking#naming_a_section">Linking (Naming a section)</a><!-- wiki: {link: [Linking] Naming a section} --></span> You can also do this in <a href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?simple_mode" title="(70 months) _Back to [Socialtext Documentation]_ toc Introduction Simple mode lets you edit much as you would in...">Simple mode</a> with <span class="nlw_phrase"><a title="section link" href="http://www.perlfoundation.org/help-en/index.cgi?simple_mode#insert_wikiwidgets">WikiWidgets</a><!-- wiki: "WikiWidgets"{link: [Simple mode] Insert Wikiwidgets} --></span>.</blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>External links.</strong> To link to another website, just write its address; e.g. <a target="_blank" title="(external link)" href="http://www.socialtext.com">http://www.socialtext.com</a></blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<strong>External link text.</strong> If you want to refer to an external website with particular text for the link, you can write:
<blockquote>
<strong>&quot;link text&quot; <span class="nlw_phrase">&lt;http://www.socialtext.com&gt;<!-- wiki: {{&lt;http://www.socialtext.com&gt;}} --></span></strong> and get this link: <a target="_blank" title="(external link)" href="http://www.socialtext.com">link text<!-- wiki-renamed-hyperlink "link text"<http://www.socialtext.com> --></a></blockquote></blockquote>
<br /><blockquote>
<span class="nlw_phrase"><a name="naming_a_section"><span class="ugly-ie-css-hack" style="display:none;">&nbsp;</span></a><!-- wiki: {section: Naming a section} --></span> The invisible section labelled &quot;Naming a section&quot; is here</blockquote>
