With Socialtext, you no longer have to hunt through your inbox for that important email. Your team can share important client emails, or keep track of a sale, or publish critical insights that used to be locked in your inbox simply by forwarding those emails into the workspace. It's that easy.

Email a page.

You can send any page to colleagues as an email message. Just click the Email button.

You can send the page to workspace members by selecting them in the email popup window, or you can send it to others by entering their email addresses. If you wish, you can also send the page attachments along with the email.

Email to a workspace.

Send an email to your_workspace@www.socialtext.net, replacing "your_workspace" with the workspace ID of your workspace, or to the link from the Email to this Workspace entry in the Tools menu.
When you send an email to a workspace, the subject line of the email becomes the title of the page. The email will become part of the page. Every email is automatically labeled with the Email tag.
Administrators can configure whether they want email to a workspace to appear at the top of a page, the bottom of a page, or to replace the page entirely by going to Settings and then This Workspace.

Send an email message with a tag.

Each tag in the workspace has its own email address. You can see and copy the email address for the tag by clicking on "All tags" from the What's new screen, and clicking on the tag name. To apply the "meeting minutes" tag to an email into the "mega-corp" workspace, use the following email address:

mega-corp+meeting_minutes@www.socialtext.net

(Note that a space in a tag name is replaced by an underscore character.)
Alternatively, you can place

 Category: tagname

in the first line of an email. Note: that only works for single word tags.

Post an email message to a weblog.

Each weblog in the workspace has its own email address. To find the email address for a weblog, every weblog has a link under the New Post button labeled post by email.

To send a message to the "Team blog" category in the "mega-corp" workspace, use the following email address:

mega-corp+team_blog@www.socialtext.net

(Note that a space in a weblog name is replaced by an underscore character.)
Alternatively, you can place

 Category: weblogname

in the first line of an email.

Editing by email.

You can can use your email software to edit a page. First, send yourself the page by email (or use a page that somone else has sent you). Edit the page as you like. Write Append: replace on the first line; otherwise, the new version will be pasted into the top of the existing page. Send the email to the workspace email address to save the page to the workspace.

Recent changes by email.

To keep up with what has changed in a workspaces without going to a website, Socialtext can alert you of changes through your email.
Turn on email notification.

To receive notifications when the workspace has changed, select the "Settings" / "Preferences" / "Email Notification" tab. By default, notices are sent out daily. You can adjust the frequency of the notification email.

Turn off email notification.

Follow the link in any notification message which takes you to the settings page. Set the frequency of notification to be "Never".

Turn off email notification for everyone.

Administrators can disable email notification for everyone in the workspace. For more information about this feature, see Help for Workspace Administrators (disable email notification) .
